| | | | Everyone loves the idea of selling weekly spreads on Monday to “maximize” premium. But I’ve found it’s the worst day to open.
Monday-to-Tuesday is the market’s danger zone…volatility spikes, prices whip around, and your carefully built trade can implode overnight.
That’s why I wait.
📅 Tuesday Is My Edge
By Tuesday morning, the market’s energy has cooled. I can sell the same spreads with solid credit and less chaos. Time decay is speeding up, volatility is slipping, and all the heavy lifting is typically in my favor.
I’m still collecting great premium — 3–4 days of time value — but I’m not forced to be “right” immediately.
That’s how I consistently target 20–25% ROI without gambling on a Monday move. If you’ve been struggling with timing, shifting to Tuesday could be your simplest edge yet.
'Til the next trade, Lance Ippolito
