I'm often asked about the difference between discretionary and mechanical trading styles and which one is better.

Unfortunately, as most good questions go, there's no simple answer.

So I wrote this article to explain the major difference between the two styles of trading and provide you with some insight about this issue.

U.S. traders tend to operate on Eastern Time, which lines up to when the markets open and close in New York.

But, since much of the forex market is based in London, that market really gets going around 2-3am ET and stays active until about 9am ET. Then there's the Asian session that happens even later…
