Global stock markets are subdued this morning as worries remain high over the rise in COVID-19 infections and whether a potential vaccine could salvage global economies moving forward. 


With state and local governments in the U.S. imposing tougher precautionary measures (like mask mandates, banning indoor restaurant dining and closing gyms) to combat rising COVID-19 cases, all eyes are on Washington.


Democrats and Republicans still haven't decided on a new U.S. stimulus package that could send $1,200 payments to most Americans and restart bonus unemployment benefits that expired last July.

Global Stocks Rise Following More COVID-19 Vaccine Data

Global stock markets opened higher this morning after Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) said its COVID-19 vaccine is more effective than first advertised. 

Pfizer said Wednesday that its vaccine is now 95% effective in preventing COVID-19, and that the company plans to submit the potential drug to U.S. regulators in just a matter of days.

Global Shares Soar on Upbeat COVID-19 Vaccine Data

Global stock markets are higher this morning after a second COVID-19 vaccine showed promising results, even as new cases continue to surge around the globe. 

Moderna Inc (Nasdaq: MRNA), an American biotechnology company that focuses on drug development, said its coronavirus vaccine seems to be 94.5% effective. But like Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) stated last week, the drug is still in its preliminary stages.
