There’s a landfill on the east side of Knoxville overlooking the Holston River, the Riverside Landfill.
It opened in 1985. It’s primarily used for refuse from construction and/or demolition projects and such. This isn’t where the city brings residential garbage.
Somewhere during the 90s, my dad was hired to help close it.
Instead, he convinced them to expand it.
Since then, our family has been the environmental engineers for that landfill. It’s an account we’ve had for almost 30 years!
I was out there working just the other day…
If you can look past the rubble, it’s actually one of the prettiest spots in the city!
Some of you might be thinking, “hey, it’s still a landfill.”
But in my eyes, if you’re gonna work in a landfill, at least make it this one!
You’ve heard the phrase “it’s a dirty job but someone’s gotta do it.”
Well, I guess that someone is me! Haha
But really, it’s just another way to “help others at all times.”
We may not like thinking about landfills, but they’re a crucial part of our civic infrastructure, and I’m glad my family has been able to work on this one for so long.
Not a lot of trading advice today, but thought you might enjoy learning a little bit more about what I do when I’m not behind a computer!
