If you’ve caught onto anything I’ve hinted at in the past month or so, then you already know the Consumer Discretionary sector is heating up…
I mean, I told my VIP Trade Room members the second week of February that if the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (NYSEArca: XLY), an ETF that tracks large consumer discretionary stocks, could break the $192 level… we’d get a clear upward move.
For those of you wondering, the XLY did just that after the Federal Reserve gave us a more concrete plan on raising interest rates in the middle of March. However, XLY has backed off that $192 level since.
This is interesting because when the economy typically softens or stocks begin to trade below their 200-day moving averages… due to increased volatility caused by events like interest rate hikes and the war… Consumer Discretionary tends to be the last sector to rally.
Let’s take a look at investment bank and financial services company Bank of America ahead of its upcoming earnings call.
This beaten-down bank has seen better days… It’s down almost 19% from its Feb. 8 high of $49.38, trading for about $39.79 a share late Friday.
The company is due to report earnings on April 18. And while analysts expect a year-over-year decline, the Blitz Tracker is seeing some big, bullish bets hit the tape ahead of the event!
“Good morning, Roger! Thank you for all your amazing videos! It's really world-class material! I learned something from every one of them … Actually from every sentence!”

A Debit Spread is an option strategy involving the simultaneous buying and selling of options with different strike prices requiring a net outflow of cash. Here, the sum of all options sold is lower than the sum of all options purchased. Therefore, the trader must put up money to begin the trade. You’ll have to pay your brokerage firm the difference between the two premiums when you open the transaction. In most cases, the goal of a debit spread is to have the stock move beyond the strike price of the short option so you realize the maximum value of the spread.
