U.S. stock futures are flat as the market tries to recover from the continual sell-off — and more in Monday's stock market recap.
The biggest reports this week are retail sales and industrial production on Tuesday, and the Philadelphia Fed Manufacturing Index report on Thursday. As I’ve said before, retail sales are important because it makes up two-thirds of the U.S. economy.
If the number is strong, it could cause stocks to rally…
But it’s all just a balance act between the Federal Reserve using higher interest rates to slow down demand and inflation, but not by so much that it pushes the U.S. into a recession.
However, if the TLT starts to become choppy, which is a real possibility because it's been losing its vertical angle, it's a good sign that the long bond has priced in rising rates and we may have a little reprieve.
