Now, to recap:
Last month, China dropped a bomb on the U.S. markets (figuratively speaking) when they reported that a Chinese startup had built a Large Language Model, or LLM, that could rival the best LLMs from the U.S. (ChatGPT and Claude) for a fraction of the cost, and that it took them a fraction of the time and far less advanced computer chips than these U.S. companies.
Now, I was immediately skeptical of these claims… but the markets bought them hook, line, and sinker…
And NVDA, who makes the chips that China had just supposedly blown out of the water, ended up having the worst-ever single day valuation loss in the history of the stock market.
The tech sector got hammered as well…
Investing legend Marc Andreessen called it AI’s “Sputnik moment.”
And many wondered when or if NVDA would ever recover its former glory.
Fast forward a month later, and NVDA has recovered almost all of the value it lost that day, at least in part because many of those initial DeepSeek claims have been called into question or outright disproven.
But don’t let the quick recovery fool you…
There are still HUGE questions about NVDA’s future and the future of the American AI race hanging in the air that could send stocks racing in either direction.
Questions that NVDA will have its first opportunity to provide a real answer to with this upcoming earnings call.

And while these earnings might reflect back to last quarter… there’s no question that this call will be all about getting NVDA’s image back on track.
Given the outsized impact of NVDA on both the Nasdaq and the markets as a whole, I have no doubt that we’re looking at the most consequential earnings report of the quarter… maybe even of the year!
