Dollar Tree, Inc. (DLTR) reported earnings today and openly admitted they’d be raising prices to $1.25 on many products.
“Our Dollar Tree pricing tests have demonstrated broad consumer acceptance of the new price point and excitement about the additional offerings and extreme value we will be able to provide,” the CEO and President said in a press release.
“Accordingly, we have begun rolling out the $1.25 price point at all Dollar Tree stores nationwide.”
Interestingly, DLTR stock seems to be rallying with the news lately and held steady in after-market trading on Tuesday night.
Maybe the markets are going to reward companies that make tough choices to change with the times.
It’ll be interesting to watch.
As for Dollar Tree, this is a real bummer for everyday folks who actually rely on these stores to meet their needs.
That 25% price hike can be devastating for underprivileged families.
As we approach the holidays, it’s a good time to think of others and give back where you can. A lot of folks in need this year.
Hope you have a great end to the short week!,
