In this video, I want to focus on the full macroeconomic picture of what happened to the market this past week… what I expect next week to look like… and how the market should play out for the rest of the quarter.
But before I dive into that, have you guys been paying attention to the 10-Year Treasury yield and the CBOE Volatility Index, or VIX?
Especially since we just had one of the biggest Consumer Price Index numbers for inflation year over year — more than 7% — in over 40 years.
Now, I’m seeing back-and-forth gyrations in the market — one second it’s up, the next it’s down — a knee-jerk reaction that caused a major sell-off, and investors are worried about the Federal Reserve’s plan to raise rates as soon as March.
So there’s a lot going on right now, but luckily I have a few trading strategies in mind to help us get through the rest of the month relatively unscathed.
First, though, let’s talk about why every investor on the market should be checking this chart every Wednesday.

Technical Indicators, such as moving averages and Bollinger Bands®, are mathematically-based technical analysis tools that traders and investors use to analyze the past and predict future price trends and patterns. Technical traders rely on indicators to help interpret the market. The goal in using indicators is to identify trading opportunities. For example, a moving average crossover often predicts a trend change. In this instance, applying the moving average indicator to a price chart allows traders to identify areas where the trend may change.
