Russia launched a full-scale invasion in Ukraine, breaking through the country’s border in the Kyiv region. It’s unfortunate, particularly for the people who live there, and it made a mess out of the stock market on Thursday.
The Dow was down almost 800 points and the Nasdaq was down almost 400 as Russia moved into Ukraine — and more in Thursday’s stock market recap.
Keep in mind, when war is announced, the markets tend to hit their lows as the news is priced in, and then rally afterward.
We also have the gross domestic product report coming out Thursday.
The report will likely be less instrumental in helping determine how we move forward regarding the proposed interest rate hikes, as the Federal Reserve is often hesitant to take action during times of crisis.
