U.S. stock futures traded lower this morning following Target’s profit warning that sent its shares down more than 8% in premarket trading — and more in Tuesday's stock market recap.
If you’ve paid attention to anything I’ve said the past two months, then you already know the TLT has been trading sideways for two months now. This meant there was less pressure on the market because higher bonds means lower interest rates.
But over the past five days, the bond market has started to move lower…
That tells me there’s now more pressure on the broader market because when bonds go down, rates go up. However, even though rate sentiment is changing, the DIA, which tracks the 30 large-cap Dow stocks, has held its own.
If the DIA continues to stay the range it’s in right now or consolidates, I won’t be too upset. But if it starts to break lower, there’s a good chance we could be down for the count, which will be a big deal.
