A Message from Wall Street Star Dear Reader, If you invested in AI last year, you're happy today. AI has infiltrated so many sectors, it's sent the demand for AI-friendly GPU computer chips rocketing. Nvidia has gone up more than 3x in the past year. It is now valued well over $2 trillion, making it one of the largest companies in the world. AI has become so dominant, that tech giants are funneling billions to promising ventures. - Amazon just added another $2.75 billion to its investment in Anthropic, bringing the total to $4 billion. That makes Anthropic the biggest bet Amazon has ever made.
- Google is handing its crown jewel - web search - over to AI. The earliest results trim latency search times 40%, while also improving search results.
- In a bid to catch up, Apple has cut other products - like the Apple car - to focus on AI. R&D spending was over $20 billion last year, with much of that money assumed going to AI.
And we're still in the beginning stages. To date, we've seen baseline AI models lay the groundwork. Tools like ChatGPT are useful, but they are still simple, proof-of-concept systems. For its next act, AI is going to help save lives. Already better than humans at a number of medical tasks, AI is ramping up to completely revolutionize healthcare.
