If you read my updates last week, you know that this weekend, I took my scout troop caving in Tennessee.
It was gonna be a bit bittersweet, because my middle kid, my oldest son, is going to age out soon after becoming an Eagle Scout, meaning this will probably be his last big outting with the troop.
So, with excitement but a bit of a heavy heart, we loaded up and took off in the dark.
Then, we heard an explosion!
Tuesday Webinar – Today at 5:00 PM ET
Don’t forget: my weekly Tuesday Webinar is happening tonight at 5:00 PM ET!
I’ll talk about some critical market updates, and then spend a lot of time talking about the stocks, ETFs, and cryptos YOU want to talk about!
But we heard the sound nobody wants to hear when driving a bunch of young folks to a caving expedition…
Our tire blew out:
And man, I mean it really shredded! No saving that puppy!
Now, in the moment, this was a huge headache. Never a dull moment when you take the troop out!
But we got the tire changed, we got to teach the kids a valuable lesson, and it was no big thing.
Just a slight bump in the road to a great time for all.
As I got to thinking about it, though, it reminded me a lot about trading.
Sometimes, when you’re trading, you have a big unexpected blowup that, in the moment, can seem like the end of the world.
The worst thing you can do in those moments is panic, freak out, and make more mistakes.
You just need to take a deep breath, change the tire (or whatever needs to change to fix your trading setup), and get back to your gameplan.
If you don’t, you’re likely to let one speedbump become a huge mountain that’s tough to overcome!
I suppose it boils down to the old Scout motto: be prepared!
Because in trading, just like in scout expeditions, anything can happen!
Hope you have a good one,
P.S.: Thanks to the awesome dads who helped with the trip and the tire change! Every great organization needs amazing volunteers.
