You see, America is growing… Or at least, its waistline is.
While the percentage of American adults over the age of 20 considered overweight has held steady between 30-35% since the 1960s, obesity rates have tripled from 13.4% to 42.4%.

According to the Center for Disease Control, overweight is defined as a body mass index (BMI) of 25.0–29.9 with anything above that considered obese.
It may be a grim statistic… but it’s hardly unique to the United States.
Ideally, the U.S. and other developed nations will be able to course correct and turn the tide in a very different battle of the bulge. But in the meantime, we’ll need something to wear.
And even if statistically most of us look more like Kevin James than LeBron James, many of the retail brands you know (and trade) don’t offer sizing that accommodates the changing American silhouette…
