Someone getting ready to pop a bubble

Dear Reader,

Last trading day of 2025. Time to review what worked and what didn't.

After over three decades in this game, I've seen strategies come and go. The hot new thing that makes everyone rich for six months, then disappears when the market shifts.

But some approaches just keep working, year after year. Pop stocks are one of them.

I've been trading these explosive moves since before most people knew what a chat room was. And in 2025?

They delivered exactly what they've always delivered - fast profits for those who know how to play them.

What Makes a Stock Pop (Still the Same After All These Years)

Pop stocks are like fireworks - they explode onto the scene, light up the sky, and fizzle out just as quickly. The trick isn't predicting which ones will pop. It's recognizing the setup when you see it.

News breaks: A surprise earnings beat, unexpected partnership, or regulatory approval sends a stock soaring. One minute it's trading quietly, the next it's the talk of every trading floor.

Short squeezes: When a heavily shorted stock starts moving up, panic sets in. Shorts scramble to cover, creating that beautiful domino effect we love to see.

Sentiment shifts: Sometimes it's pure psychology. A stock gets hyped, momentum builds, and suddenly everyone wants in.

These patterns haven't changed in 30 years. Human nature doesn't evolve that fast.

My Battle-Tested Checklist

Here's what I look for - same criteria that worked in 1995, same criteria that worked in 2025:

High short interest - The higher the short interest, the bigger the potential squeeze. It's like a coiled spring waiting to snap.

Unusual volume spikes - When a stock that normally trades 1 million shares suddenly does 10 million, something's happening. Pay attention.

Insider buying - Company insiders buying their own stock? They probably know something the market doesn't.

Catalysts on deck - Earnings, FDA approvals, product launches. These events create the spark that lights the fuse.

The 2025 Proof

Take WOLF. Perfect example of why this approach works.

On March 3, 2025 I sent out this alert:

Alert image: Back into #WOLF

And 3 weeks later, we were able to close it out for a double-digit gain.

Alert image: Take profits in WOLFSPEED, again.

But here's the real lesson: not everyone followed the game plan. Some people got greedy, held on too long, and ended up with sweaty palms and empty pockets.

Moral of the story? Don't overstay your welcome.

Now, here's the beautiful part: WOLF is down about 98% year-to-date now.

That's exactly why we don't buy and hold these things. We trade the pop, take the profit, move on. The stock gave us what we needed - a quick, profitable move. What it did afterward isn't our problem.

This strange piece of metal Jeff Brown is holding in his hand could hold the key to Elon Musk's self-driving and robotics revolution.

And there's currently only one company here in the U.S. that can produce these metals.

That's why this virtual monopoly could be the most important firm in the world when it comes to the development of AI.

Why Most Traders Screw This Up

After 30+ years, I've seen every mistake you can make with pop stocks:

They get greedy and hold too long. They fall in love with the story. They convince themselves this one's different.

It's never different.

Pop stocks are hot potatoes. You grab them, make your money, and pass them to the next guy. Hold too long and you get burned.

The emotional discipline required hasn't changed since I started. Cut profits quickly. Don't overstay your welcome. Next setup is always around the corner.

Why This Strategy Endures

Pop stocks work because they exploit basic market psychology that never changes:

Fear of missing out drives buying sprees. Panic drives selling sprees. News creates volatility. Volatility creates opportunity.

These aren't sophisticated algorithmic plays. They're simple human behavior patterns that repeat endlessly.

I'll be trading pop stocks in 2026 because I'll be trading them until I retire. They're not going anywhere.

YOUR ACTION PLAN

Start watching for the signs: unusual volume, high short interest, and upcoming catalysts. When you see them line up, pay attention.

But remember - these are quick hits, not marriage proposals. Get in, get your profit, get out.

The market will serve up plenty of opportunities next year. Same as it has for the last 30.
