Nate here! Hope you’re doing well.
Today, I want to take a moment to answer one of the biggest questions I get about trading, which is:
“What’s the biggest ‘secret’ to trading?”
For me, the real answer isn’t obvious. In my approach, I use a variety of strategies, each with its own “edge” based on different elements of the market.
However, I would say that the most powerful force in the market—one that most people have no idea about—isn’t tied to any specific indicator, scanner, or formula for picking great stocks.
It’s actually about how the market moves…
And more specifically, when the market moves.
You see, most people don’t realize that essentially all the gains that happen in the stock market don’t even occur during the regular trading day when the market is “open.”
In other words, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., when all the regular traders are competing over price movements, there’s actually no net profit to be made over time. I explain this force inside the Overnight Options Presentation.
As you can probably guess, the major edge with that strategy is focusing on the overnight move, where the market actually does gain over time.
Now, don’t get me wrong—we’re still trading regular stocks during regular hours, and you don’t need any kind of special brokerage or anything like that.
But by placing a trade at the very end of the day, capitalizing on the market’s tendency to move up overnight, and then closing out in the morning for a profit, we’re taking full advantage of this market force.
