Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) wants to rely less on OpenAI. That’s why they just locked in two new AI alliances, one with Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) and another with Anthropic (private). Under the deal, Microsoft will pour $5 billion into Anthropic. Nvidia will put in $10 billion. And Anthropic has agreed to buy $30 billion worth of Azure compute from Microsoft, with an option to scale its total compute use up to one gigawatt. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said… “This is a dream come true for us. You know, we’ve admired the work of Anthropic and Dario for a long time, and this is the first time we are going to deeply partner with Anthropic to accelerate Claude.” This marks the first deep partnership between Nvidia and Anthropic. Both firms will jointly engineer and fine-tune systems to boost model speed, improve efficiency, and tailor Nvidia hardware to Anthropic’s AI workloads. Anthropic’s initial compute commitment includes up to one gigawatt powered by Nvidia’s Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell systems.
