Why Companies Release Positive News on Weekends to Maximize Monday Momentum I need to let you in on something that most traders completely miss. You know those Monday morning gaps that seem to come out of nowhere? The ones where you wake up and suddenly a stock is up 15% before the bell even rings? That's not luck — that's strategic corporate timing at work. Rarely will a company start the week off with bad news. They prefer to release some of their best news over the weekend because it allows them to start the week on a positive note, taking advantage of everyone jumping back into the markets. This is what insiders call “news flow theory.” A wire is a special trade that doesn't come from everyday investors. It's a unique type of transaction used mainly by hedge funds, institutions and big money insiders who want to take significant positions quickly without sending the usual alarms through retail channels. These wires often reveal where the smartest capital is positioning before a major catalyst hits. The Weekend Information Advantage If you ever wonder why so many stocks shoot up during Monday's premarket, it's because big news tends to break over the weekend. Companies know exactly what they're doing. They've got 64 hours from Friday's close to Monday's open where news can circulate, build momentum and create buying pressure without any selling to counteract it. Take Marvell Technology (MRVL) as a perfect example. Late on a Friday afternoon, a $527,000 wire hit the tape — the kind of move that tells you someone knows something the rest of the market doesn't. Sure enough, before the opening bell, MRVL was highlighted as a top semiconductor pick for the year. When trading resumed, the stock opened with a powerful gap, creating a massive payoff for the trader who positioned ahead of the crowd. These kinds of moves don't happen in a vacuum. In the real world, information moves quietly through hedge funds, investment banks and corporate circles long before the headlines hit. Studies have shown that nearly half of major mergers are leaked early, and the same informational flow drives weekend news reactions. Why Friday Wires Signal Weekend Catalysts So why do these massive wires happen specifically on Fridays? It's simple — someone knows what's coming over the weekend. Companies don't randomly dump half-a-million dollars into a stock on Friday afternoon unless they have insight into potential upcoming catalysts. The pattern becomes obvious when you understand how corporate PR teams coordinate timing to maximize impact. Weekends give news time to circulate without the push and pull of real-time trading. By Monday, that buildup turns into a surge of demand. If you want to see how I take advantage of this surge, check this out...
