As you know, the major banks reported on Friday. That means that we're officially in the full swing of earnings season.

Earnings present a unique challenge for traders because they attract so much focus on particular stocks.

When there's a heavy focus on a particular stock, we're much more likely to see massive, sudden price swings because a collective overreaction in either direction can drive the price much higher or lower.

The challenge? How can we know which way the market will move?

It's impossible to truly predict, although countless traders have claimed over the years that they had the secret formula.

The truth is, it's mostly just guesswork.

But I've discovered a way to eliminate the guesswork.
