Arista Networks Cashes In on the AI Infrastructure Buildout
Written by Jeffrey Neal Johnson on November 6, 2026
Key Points
- Arista Networks reported 58.5% year-over-year revenue growth in Q3 2026, supported by strong demand for AI networking infrastructure.
- Management expects AI fabric revenue to double to approximately $7 billion in 2027, alongside continued growth in enterprise networking.
- Arista Networks' premium valuation and significant supplier commitments create risks if hyperscale data center spending slows.
- Special Report: The next great AI investment story
Building artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure requires more than advanced processors. Connecting tens of thousands of processing units to function as a single, cohesive supercomputer requires a networking architecture capable of ultra-low latency and high throughput. For years, proprietary fabrics dominated this highly specialized space. Cloud service providers are increasingly pivoting toward open, standards-based Ethernet to link their sprawling AI clusters and avoid rigid vendor lock-in.
This architectural shift offers a distinct commercial advantage to networking providers that can meet the stringent demands of hyperscale data centers. Investors looking to gauge global capital expenditure momentum can look to the companies providing this critical connectivity.
Elon can't build his satellite network without one key supplier, and he's paid this company since 2012.
His plan for 1,000,000 satellites could multiply that bill significantly, putting this overlooked stock back in focus.

How Arista Networks Outpaces Legacy Tech
Arista Networks, Inc. (NYSE: ANET) recently posted a third-quarter earnings report that handily beat market expectations, delivering $1.20 in earnings per share on record revenue of $3.66 billion. That top-line figure represents an approximate 59% year-over-year increase, signaling healthy, sustained demand for its networking solutions.
Management responded by raising fiscal 2026 revenue guidance to $13.3 billion. Initial guidance for 2027 projects revenue growth of 38% to 40%, targeting roughly $18.5 billion. This upward trajectory highlights an industry shift. Hyperscalers are increasingly migrating away from closed, proprietary networking fabrics, opting instead for high-speed Ethernet switching platforms.
The preference for Ethernet stems from its broad interoperability. Cloud builders prefer environments where they can mix and match components without being tethered to a single ecosystem. Arista Networks supports this flexibility through its Extensible Operating System.
This foundational software layer gives cloud operators the programmatic controls they need to optimize data flows, enabling rapid deployment while reducing overall power consumption across high-density facilities. By decoupling software intelligence from the underlying hardware, Arista Networks helps clients scale complex AI workloads without sacrificing network stability or efficiency.
Chasing the $7 Billion AI Fabric Opportunity
The core driver behind this growth is the rapid adoption of AI fabrics. Management expects AI fabric revenue to double to about $7 billion by 2027. Arista Networks is seeing notable commercial traction with its Etherlink portfolio, having recently surpassed 100 active customers. Over the next few years, the company forecasts more than 10 gigawatts of deployment spanning multiple types of compute accelerators.
A large portion of this capital expenditure stems from industry heavyweights. During the recent earnings call, management noted that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) and Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ: META) continue to account for more than 10% of revenue each. The leadership team also sees the potential to add one or two more hyperscale customers at that concentration level in the near future, underscoring the deep integration Arista Networks has achieved within the world's largest data centers.
Beyond the expansive data center buildouts, the enterprise campus business is showing resilient strength. Driven by a corporate demand for secure, automated, zero-trust network infrastructure, the cognitive campus segment is expected to grow by about 60%.
This growth trajectory places the campus division on pace to reach roughly $2 billion in revenue by 2027, diversifying the company's income streams beyond pure hyperscale dependency. This dual-engine growth model could provide a buffer if cloud capital expenditures moderate, with enterprise upgrades helping to sustain revenue growth.
Elon's paid this chip supplier since 2012. When NVIDIA tried to buy the company, he fought the deal.
Without its chip, his AI satellites don't fly. Now he wants 1,000,000 of them in orbit, 100 times what's up there today, and every one pays this company a royalty.

Balancing Aggressive Growth With Profitability
Meeting this elevated level of demand requires a highly proactive approach to procurement. Inventory levels have increased to $3.2 billion, while forward purchase commitments expanded to a notable $11.4 billion. In a normal operating environment, tying up extensive capital in inventory and future commitments might appear as a balance sheet vulnerability. In a tight supply environment, securing component availability ahead of a projected 40% growth rate could provide a competitive advantage. It could help Arista Networks fulfill multi-year infrastructure buildouts while reducing the risk of component shortages that could derail client timelines.
Strong operating cash flow and a disciplined capital return program support this forward-looking supply chain management. Management is actively executing a $1.5 billion share repurchase authorization, with about $817 million remaining available. Buying back shares at this stage signals executive confidence in forward cash flow generation and provides an underlying layer of capital support for the equity.
On the profitability front, Arista Networks demonstrates significant operating leverage. The shift toward a heavier hardware mix in AI deployments is expected to moderate gross margins to 62% to 64% in 2027. Yet, operating margins are projected to hold steady at about 49%. This balance shows strict operating expense management and cost discipline, effectively offsetting the hardware margin drag and preserving bottom-line strength.
Is the High Valuation Justified for Arista Networks?
Investors analyzing Arista Networks' stock will notice a trailing price-to-earnings ratio hovering around 43. A multiple at this level prices in high expectations, requiring Arista Networks to continually execute against its ambitious multi-year growth targets.
The projected slight compression in gross margins remains a metric to watch, as hardware sales will likely outpace higher-margin software revenue in the near term during this physical buildout phase.
If broader macroeconomic headwinds force hyperscalers to dial back their capital expenditure plans, companies trading at premium multiples often face the sharpest valuation adjustments.
The current valuation sits against a backdrop of exceptional revenue visibility. The multi-year purchase commitments and deep integration into hyperscale AI plans provide a level of operational predictability rarely seen in enterprise technology.
Adding to the structural support, Arista Networks was added to the S&P 100 index in late 2026. This index inclusion could act as a mechanical catalyst, mandating passive institutional accumulation and providing a steady baseline of trading volume.
Investors looking to add exposure to the physical layer of AI infrastructure might want to add this networking provider to their watchlist. As cloud titans continue to fund large-scale data center expansions, companies supplying the essential connectivity remain well-positioned to capture the ongoing architectural shift.
