Blane Markham here...
The S&P 500 is near record highs. But most stocks aren't participating anymore.
And if you're still trading the market the way you were a month ago, you may be missing one of the biggest shifts happening right now.
For most of this year, the big story was broad market strength.
It wasn't just a handful of mega-cap stocks pushing the indexes higher.
Money was rotating through different sectors…
The equal-weighted S&P 500 was hitting new highs…
And roughly 70% of S&P 500 stocks were trading above their 20-, 50-, AND 200-day moving averages.
In other words, momentum was everywhere.
But then something changed.
=========================================
Over just a few weeks, that momentum collapsed.
=========================================
Today, only about:
- 20% of S&P 500 stocks are above their 20-day moving average
- 30% are above their 50-day moving average
- 50% are above their 200-day moving average
That's a dramatic deterioration in market breadth.
And yet…
The S&P 500 is still hovering near all-time highs.
The Nasdaq just hit a fresh all-time high.
So what's going on?
The answer has everything to do with where the money is rotating now.
Instead of broad participation across the market, traders have been piling back into mega-cap tech and semiconductor stocks.
And because these companies are so enormous, a relatively small number of them can pull the major indexes higher—even while momentum is deteriorating across hundreds of other stocks.
That's a very different market than the one you were trading in july.
And it means the number of stocks offering strong bullish opportunities may have shrunk considerably.
That's exactly what we're going to break down in our upcoming webinar.
I'll show you what's happening beneath the surface of the market, why the major indexes can continue climbing even as breadth deteriorates, and what this shift could mean for traders looking for momentum right now.

The market may look healthy on the surface.
But underneath, the momentum picture has changed dramatically.
And you need to know where the momentum is going before you put your next trade on.
